Short answer
IELTS private tutoring means studying one-to-one with a tutor, with the pace and content set entirely by what you need. It works especially well if you have to reach a set score in a short time, or if you are stuck on a single skill such as Writing or Speaking.
Who is it for?
- Candidates who need to reach a specific band score in a short time
- Candidates who are stuck on one skill, such as Writing or Speaking
- Candidates who find a group's pace doesn't suit them and want to move at their own speed
How does private tutoring work?
One-to-one lessons follow the needs your diagnostic reveals, not a ready-made syllabus.
- 1
Diagnostic and lesson plan
We assess where you are in all four skills and identify your weakest areas. The content and frequency of your lessons are then set around your target band, your test date and your timetable.
- 2
Targeted lessons
Lessons concentrate on your weaker skills, with Writing correction and Speaking practice built in.
- 3
Ongoing updates
Your plan is updated lesson by lesson in the light of your mock test and homework results.
What do we focus on in private lessons?
The biggest advantage of one-to-one lessons is that your time goes on what is genuinely slowing you down. Your tutor builds every lesson around your needs, moving quickly through the areas you are strong in and spending as long as it takes on the ones you find hard.
- We prioritise the weakest skills your diagnostic identifies
- We work on targeted technique, question type by question type
- You get regular written feedback and correction on your Writing
- We rehearse the Speaking test one-to-one, in the real format
- We keep updating your plan in line with your mock test results
Can I take lessons for just one skill?
Yes. Many candidates are stuck on a single skill, such as Writing or Speaking, while already above their target band in the others. In that case, rather than going back over all four skills, we can put together a package focused only on the one you need. For Writing, that means correction against the assessment criteria and rewriting; for Speaking, one-to-one practice in the real test format.
First-lesson satisfaction guarantee
When you start working one-to-one, how well you get on with your tutor matters. That's why, if you are not happy with your first lesson, we refund it in full, no questions asked: the risk of getting started is ours, not yours.
