About the IELTS test

IELTS is an international test of English language proficiency with four sections: Listening, Reading, Writing and Speaking. Each section gets its own score on the 0–9 band scale, and your overall score is the average of the four. Listening takes about 30 minutes, Reading 60 and Writing 60; Speaking is an 11–14-minute face-to-face interview. What is IELTS?

Universities, postgraduate programmes and other academic applications ask for Academic; immigration and most job applications ask for General Training. The two versions differ only in Reading and Writing Task 1 — Listening and Speaking are exactly the same. Make the final decision from the official requirement of the institution you're applying to.Academic vs General Training

No. IELTS has no maths section and no maths questions; it measures English language proficiency only. Academic Writing Task 1 gives you a graph or table, but you're asked to summarise the trends in writing, not to calculate anything. What is IELTS, and how many sections?

IELTS results are generally accepted for two years from the test date. Some institutions ask for a more recent result, so it's worth checking the policy of the institution you're applying to as well.Band scores and validity

We don't set or collect the exam fee: you book the test directly with the British Council or IDP and pay the fee to them. The fee is revised more than once a year, so confirm the current amount on the test provider's own page. The cost of preparing with us is separate from the exam fee.IELTS exam fee in Turkey

Preparing for IELTS

It depends on the gap between your current level and your target band; there's no single right answer. Moving up half a band usually takes a few weeks of regular study, while bigger jumps can take a few months. After a diagnostic test, we draw up a realistic timeline and weekly workload with you.Weekly study plan

Yes, the intro call is free. We talk about your target band, your test date and your schedule, and suggest the programme options that suit you.Book a free intro call

If you're learning the format from scratch and want the more economical option, the group course, with no more than 6 students per class, is a good fit. If you need a specific score in a short time, or you're stuck on one skill, private tutoring is more efficient. If you can't decide, we'll work it out together on a free intro call.Packages and prices

Yes. You can focus on a single skill. We use a diagnostic test to find the gaps in that skill and concentrate on them directly; for candidates held back by one section, that's the fastest way to improve.IELTS private tutoring

Yes. On the group course you sit a full practice test every Sunday in the last 5 weeks and go through it in a live lesson the following Tuesday. Separately, you can buy our 20 full IELTS Academic practice tests one at a time or in packs. The first test, the diagnostic test, is free, and you get 2 attempts at each test.IELTS practice tests

Lessons and how they work

Yes. All our lessons are taught live on our own online classroom software, so you can join from anywhere in Turkey or abroad.

For private lessons, the times are arranged entirely around you. The group course has a fixed timetable that's published before you enrol: topic lessons on Monday, Wednesday and Friday, 19:00–20:30; in the last 5 weeks, an online practice test on Sunday at 10:00 and a review lesson the following Tuesday, 19:00–20:30 (all Istanbul time).

Your Task 1 and Task 2 responses are checked one by one against the four official assessment criteria. You get marked-up corrections showing where you lose marks, an estimated band range and specific suggestions for revision.IELTS Writing feedback

You rehearse one to one with real-format questions: Part 1 introductory questions, the Part 2 cue card and the Part 3 discussion. You get immediate feedback against the four criteria and an estimated band range.IELTS Speaking mock test

Payments are taken through Stripe by credit or debit card, in US dollars. Your card details aren't shared with us and aren't stored on our servers. For the group course, you can pay in full or choose a two-instalment plan.Packages and payment

If you're not happy with your first private lesson, or with the first week of lessons on the group course, we refund the full amount you paid.

No. Because the result also depends on your own work, we don't guarantee a particular band score. Instead, we offer a plan based on measurement, regular feedback and a realistic target — and if you're not happy after your first lesson, a full refund, no questions asked.
